Repro Steps

Issue encountered when starting any WSL terminal session.
Docker Desktop does not fully start up and displays "Docker Desktop starting ..."

Expected Behavior

WSL terminal session initiation.
Docker Desktop start up sequence completes

Actual Behavior

Error: 0x80041002
Error code: Wsl/Service/CreateVm/ConfigureNetworking/0x80041002

I also have tried each of the various resolutions from:

• WSL2 distro failing to startup with code 4294967295 #5092
• Error code: Wsl/Service/CreateInstance/CreateVm/ConfigureNetworking/0x80041002 #9016

I have been trying to fix this issue the whole day, looked at every relevant issue on github, stackoverflow, multiple blogs. I even tried chatGPT 🙂 nothing fixed it.

PS: I need the files inside of the distro.

WORKED FINALLY

steps😶:

• Remove all the previous distros.
• Turn off Windows Subsystem for Linux Feature.
• Remove WSL from the programs.
• Reinstall everything multiple time until it works :)

If that doesn't work. Install VMware, then remove it, and remove its path from the environment.
then redo all the steps.
