Thanks for the feature suggestion! I think this is a great start, but it seems like there are some missing details. I have personally not seen this in other calculators. Can you ellaborate on how you might approach this? Check out our New Feedback Process for more info. |
Hi, thanks for the reply! Sadly i don't have an actual example of a calculator with this feature since they were all old dos/early Windows calculators. This feature is really suggested by my dad than by me XD anyway the feature would be really simple: it should be deactivable (maybe a button in settings?) and it's just a key pairing: the use case are a lot: for example it allows compatibility between different keyboards layout. just now i'm using the italian keyboard instead of the US one and type these operators has been a little difficult. Also, is really easier to have the operators in the same zone of the keyboard like an actual calculator instead of scattered throughout the keyboard. Also, on many layout you have to press shift to type some of these operators and it's very annoying Regards, |
@manuelelucchi Thanks for the extra details! When you get the chance, can you update your idea with more details following the feature pitch template from our New Feedback Process (by editing your original submission)? |
Thanks again for submitting your idea! However, after reviewing this pitch more closely, we do not believe it is a great fit for the product at this time. Thank you for your contribution to Calculator! |
It is important to note that this pitch was declined, in part, because #620 leads to a much more natural keyboard input, but would break support for the kind of key binding we use today that would support this idea. |
Some third party calculator support the arrow Keys for typing the four principal operators in compact keyboards. Now it seems like these Keys are unused, it would be useful to use them for this
Regards,
Manuele
