OpenID Connect uses moodle username rather than email for authentication

OpenID authentication working in our moodle instance if we update moodle username to their email address.

Can OpenID authenticate with the moodle email instead of the moodle username?
We do not want to change the moodle usernames to email addresses.

I am aware of the CSV upload in 'User Matching' of the MS integration settings, but this is not practical as we would need to do it everyday.

The Syncing process appears to offer this option, is there a similar option for authentication?

Hi @pllllllllll, maybe the "Match Microsoft Entra ID usernames to moodle emails instead of moodle usernames during the sync" setting in admin/settings.php?section=local_o365&s_local_o365_tabs=1 is what you're looking for.
