Attempting to get defaults from compiler in "compilerPath" property Failing #4791

I'm sorry this issue was overlooked. It looks like this issue is not caused by CMake Tools. The compiler being sent to cpptools is the same as the one you specified in the I'll move this issue over to cpptools where someone can help investigate. In the meantime, if you can try running your gcc compiler with the following arguments and let us know what the result is, that would help.
If you can also add instructions as to where you got your compiler in case we need to try it out on our side, that would be great. Thanks! |

HI @enelson1001 . This is working correctly for me, on Linux, using the toolchain you linked. (This is one of the compilers I use to test compiler probing, as it doesn't support x64/x86 command line args). Could you repro again, run the command "C/C++ Log Diagnostics", and share that output here? Could you also try repro'ing without CMake Tools, using a c_cpp_properties.json similar to this? :

Hi @enelson1001 . I was able to track down the issue to a hard-coded limit on the number of arguments (38) we could successfully pass via command line. You are repro'ing due to the number of compiler args specified by your project's CMakeLists.txt.. It would repro with any compiler. A fix will be in the next insiders release. In the meanwhile, you should be able to work around the issue by temporarily removing some non-critical args from CMakeLists.txt. |

Hi @iCarletto . That looks like #4727 , which is being looked at right now. In the meanwhile, the work-around is to edit the JSON file directly to change this settings. |
Brief Issue Summary
Attempting to get defaults from compiler in "compilerPath" property is failing and in doing so I think this is causing include errors detected. - namely canot open source file _ansi.h.

Should not be getting re squiggly lines. Previous version did not have this problem
