show update notification

Pls show the update notification for the extension.

We do not control displaying of messages when extensions are updated.
Please report this issue on the VS Code repo, also please check the documentation related to extension updates here https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/editor/extension-gallery

but the thing is I do get update notifications from some extensions like this one.

so a warning message would be the right theme then? I just want to get a pop-up window from the lower right corner when the extension gets updated.

Thanks for the suggestion 👍 but we decided not to move forward with this idea for now.
