Issue Type: Bug

In editors, there is no_space between the first character of a line and the left edge of the editor space, making it difficult to select text beginning with the first character of a line. I have set my insertion cursor to two pixels wide and when positioned in this non-space, there is only one pixel of the two pixels shown. <How did this ever get in and why has it persisted so long?> There is a setting to control space at the top and bottom but not the left side. In any case, the default shouldn't require user adjustment for most people.
