Issue Type: Performance Issue

When mouse is near the side bar, a collapse/expand icon appears. This makes it hard to put cursor at the begining of line. It might be better to put some padding space between content and editor's real border so that it's easy to put cursor there by clicking mouse.

Thanks,

VS Code version: Code 1.66.0 (e18005f, 2022-03-30T05:50:41.156Z)
OS version: Linux x64 5.13.0-39-generic
Restricted Mode: No
