iPad: text selection (cursor)

Text selection (with the mouse for example) crashes regularly. The workaround is to reload the window (iPadOS 16.1)

Can you give some more details about what exactly is "crashing"? Maybe a screen recording/screenshot?

Does the text selection work in other parts of the UI like the search pane or the command palette? I want to see if this issue is scoped to the editor

the text selection does not work in the search pane, but it works in the command palette. See this recording:

(The double click works, it is the click and drag that does not work)

An easy way to reproduce the problem is to resize the window from full screen to smaller screen on iPadOS 16 (Stage Manager) and the problem appears (There is another bug with the white bar at the bottom of the screen) :

This works best via Chrome on the iPad (although it is WebKit like Safari). The scroll works without setting the site zoom to 85% and the selection with the cursor also (the right click does not open the editing popup of iOS wich cause the Issue)

The bug is still present concerning the text selection which sometimes does not work with the cursor. it is possible to reproduce the issue by resizing the VSCode window in width (with Stage Manager activated on iPadOS)
ex: (iPadOS 16.4.1) :

Really? no solution yet for Ipad? I'm currently running PWA w/safari Ipad M4 PRO 13 inch, can't select text unless with an apple pencil

Cursor selection seems to be working for me... but the rendering is off:

I think this is because of the "double cursors" situation we also see in #177227
