I have recently started using the vs code as a text editor, but the editor is slow. I hope you will be serious regarding the issue and update me asap.

+1, I noticed that too. First when VS Code came out, it was super fast, order of magnitude faster than Atom.

Nowadays when I open Code, I have to wait for 2-5 seconds because that's the time it takes to render the empty editor window without any extensions (on the same hardware as before). It's becoming slower.

@biplavsitaula can you expand on what part of the editor is slow so that we collect the relevant logs, is it startup or is it input latency ? Also we have been investing on perf improvements in certain parts of the Editor in November milestone, you can also see if your issue repros with latest insiders https://code.visualstudio.com/insiders
