No MacOS Insiders update for several days

Checking for updates produces No Updates Available. Last update installed was above version, dated 2017-09-20T05:07:02.538Z

Addition - Windows (x64) also shows no updates.

Yeah, we are facing some signing issues. Hence the updates are not there. If interested, I would point to the unsigned bits which you have to manually download and install.

With those unsigned builds, I guess it's best to set "update.channel": "none",

Unfortunately these builds (as they are not signed) will take you off our update process.

Once we clear up the issues we have I'll update this issue and you should reinstall VS Code Insiders with a signed version - that way you will continue to receive updates.
