Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.22621.3880]

Are you using WSL 1 or WSL 2?

  • WSL 2
  • WSL 1

Kernel Version

Linux version 5.15.153.1-microsoft-standard-WSL2 (root@941d701f84f1) (gcc (GCC) 11.2.0, GNU ld (GNU Binutils) 2.37) #1 SMP Fri Mar 29 23:14:13 UTC 2024

Distro Version

Ubuntu 24.04

Other Software

No response

Repro Steps

I have been using Ubuntu 22.04 for months and the mouse cursor has been a regular size. Yesterday (2024-10-01), I ran sudo do-release-upgrade within the Ubuntu environment and upgraded to Ubuntu 24.04. The upgrade appeared to be successful. After that, I rebooted my computer and upon launching konsole, I found that my mouse cursor is extremely large when it is over the body of a Linux GUI application window. The cursor is large when over all of the applications that I tried (konsole, kdiff3 and emacs).

Expected Behavior

I expect the mouse cursor to be a reasonable size when using a Linux application

Actual Behavior

See the attached video.

  • When mouse cursor is over the windows desktop (or a windows application) it is a normal sized arrow (white with black outline)
  • When mouse cursor is over the Linux application window decorations it is a normal sized arrow (grey with a black outline)
  • When mouse cursor is over the Linux application body, it is a huge arrow (black with a white outline)

Diagnostic Logs

  • I have 3 monitors connected to my computer and all are set to scale 100% in Windows

Same here with a fresh installation of Ununtu 24.04, no upgrade from previous version of Ubuntu.
The cursor ist large when it enters any GUI application in WSL like Chrome, Firefox, IntelliJ Idea.
