Unable to get "Rewrite Rules" working correctly for "replace_title"

I'm using Google alerts for some RSS feeds and the titles have the keyword being tracked bolded with HTML:

Article title about <b>keyword I'm tracking</b> etc, etc

I've been trying to have miniflux rewrite rules replace them, but it hasn't been working.

replace_title("<b>"|""),replace_title("</b>"|"")

Neither <b> nor </b> are being replaced in the titles.

Any ideas? Do I have to recreate the feed from scratch with these rewrite rules?
