User created account with the same email and the old edx account got re-activated? #2499

While investigating Sentry errors, I ran into this user who was retired in Oct.2022, but the created a new account with the same email in Sept 2023.

Now it looks like the new account they created on MITxOnline is now associated with the old edx account. I guess it got reactevated.

There is one active enrollment:

Oops. Back in October 2022 we didn't have the protections in place to prevent people from registering again. Reading the ZenDesk ticket, it was a mixed request. Delete my account, but I might come back. I guess they did come back.

I don't really see any harm in them associating with the old account at this time. Call it a mistake with a happy outcome?
