Short Publishing History
My main motivation to write an editor for writers is that I need one myself. I wouldn't write my own editor, if there would be an editor to fulfill my needs. What I want to have, is an editor that is as easy to start with as Notepad or Word, but which could give me tools to restructure the story if and when I come in troubles.
All my three generation of editors - old Moe, Python-Mawe and MaweJS - are (or have been) serving my daily story writing purposes. I have around 100-200 stories in various phases, from very early sketches to finished ones. Some of those unfinished stories will never get finished, but some will. At the moment, there are several novel projects, each 50-100,000 words - so you can understand my urgent need for MaweJS improvements helping to write longer texts.
MaweJS has superseded the old editors, and those GitHub projects are not active anymore. But because I have many stories written with old editors, MaweJS just must be able to load them for editing. So, one thing you can be quite sure: all the new editors will be backward compatible with older ones at file format level, I just personally don't have any other option.
Here are some published work. All my stories are written in Finnish.
Many early stories are written with my Moe editor. Newer ones are written with Python-Mawe and latest ones with MaweJS. Early stories are pretty short, like 1500 - 2500 words. The newer the story, the longer it is. The last one, "Gjerta avaruudessa" (Gjerta in Space) is around 18,000 words.
