From Main Menu item 8, section 2: Go to the following site: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git/tree/mediatek Click on WIFI_MT7961_patch_mcu_1_2_hdr.bin Click on plain Save file Click on WIFI_RAM_CODE_MT7961_1.bin Click on plain Save file Create the needed directory (if necessary): sudo mkdir /lib/firmware/mediatek Copy the files to the following locations: sudo cp WIFI_MT7961_patch_mcu_1_2_hdr.bin /lib/firmware/mediatek reboot I just checked. Those two files are currently 27 hours old. Firmware for the mt7921 has been being updated often. |

So on my arch machine, these files end in .xz . I assume this means they are compressed? Anyone know if replacing them with the uncompressed .bin equivalent in that same path will work? Or are they hardcoded path/file locations? |

That is correct. At some point, support was added to the kernel for compressed drivers and firmware files.
This should work fine. Delete the compressed files and copy the new uncompressed files into the appropriate directory. |

I have been trying to make sure I am testing against the latest firmware files from https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git/tree/mediatek . Which are the files that definitely need to be updated from this site to cover the MT7921AU chipset?
Thanks
