@Rob--W and I agreed to let renovatebot downgrade the lockfile version to v1, hopefully this would stop this "lockfile versions back and forth" issue that seems to be affecting the renovatebot PRs at the moment.
(as a side note, apparently renovatebot decided to upgrade our lockfile to v2 in #2003, but it is still unclear why).

@rpl as a quick note, I'm super happy with depfu.com as a mean to keep the dependencies uptodate :) especially it can group updates (I do that for the dev dependencies).

@rpl as a quick note, I'm super happy with depfu.com as a mean to keep the dependencies uptodate :) especially it can group updates (I do that for the dev dependencies).

@julienw Thanks, I may look into giving it a try on a side project (to be honest renovatebot hasn't been that bad, this unexpected npm lock file downgrade has been the only annoying one that I had to deal with so far).

As a side note, this fix is now also released on npm as part of the new web-ext 5.4.1 patch release.
