XBMC has for a long time had the ability to be a front-end for a PVR backend like MythTV, TVHeadend, NextPVR and many others - and since the aim for this project appears to be to manage XBMC and various applications that go together with it, I would love to see the ability to play PVR streams (both TV and radio), like you can currently choose what to watch from Marachino. To that effect, here you have the XBMC PVR front-end API documentation, if you should decide to impliment this.

There is already limited support for pvr (I believe switching channels/stations only). When it was implemented the JSON API had next to nil PVR support. I no longer have time to update it, but the groundwork is already there if someone wants to add any newer features.
But, what you are asking for should already exist. It is disabled by default. click the settings button (top left) and go the the library module settings. There you should be able to add PVR to library module
