Cacti status

Is there a way to get the cacti device status cascaded down into mirage?
We're currently polling the device with an 'advanced ping' but would prefer just to rely on the cacti device status rather than adding extra polling.

it would require pulling it out of the db and putting it down in the file. Will be looking at this soon, need to work on a few items in the realm of altering the shape of the output we have currently
