Just to report that I was able to successfully build and install on Rocky Linux 8.5. Sound is piped through to windows rdp client fine and haven't encountered problems.
Thanks very much for the effort to make this work. It is a bit disappointing that distributions don't have this functionality in 'standard' repositories.
