The title sums up the issue. When using enhanced session mode xrdp failed to connect to the vm.

Installed both xrdp and xorgxrdp packages. Basically ran the scripts at https://github.com/microsoft/linux-vm-tools

Appending exec dbus-launch mate-session in .xinitrc fixed the issue. I can now xrdp to the arch vm.
