Is it possible to load HTML content via AJAX like a Product Quick View?

I'm looking at moving away from Fancybox due to their Licensing and costly support (while accepting Pull Requests).
I'm currently using Fancybox to open a Product Quick View in AuroraCMS, and I would like to know if it's possible to implement the same thing with Spotlight without modifying the source to do so.
