Can a facility to sync existing content in a folder eg photo folder and not just newly created content be added to the Android app thanks?

GitMate.io thinks possibly related issues are #668 (Folder sync), #3602 (Photo folder spinning ), #285 ([TOP] Enhance sync folders), #1898 (syncing problem), and #2559 (Missbehaviour on syncing big folders).
