Bug description

  • Right click on Nextcloud icon in system tray and select "open main dialog"
  • Next cloud icon appears briefly on the task bar and then disappears after 10 secs or so, or if you click on it.

I tried versions 3.4.1 and 3.4.4 as well as 3.5.1 all versions exhibit this behaviour on a fresh install of windows 11 Pro

Steps to reproduce

  • Right click on Nextcloud icon in system tray and select "open main dialog"
  • Next cloud icon appears briefly on the task bar and then disappears after 10 secs or so, or if you click on it.
    Or double click the Nextcloud icon placed on the desktop during install - same result.

Expected behavior

I expected to see the main options dialog.

Additional info

I discovered this bug after I wanted to change the account on the nextcloud server the client logs into.

This is impossible to do without the main dialog.

Additionally there is another bug:
Uninstalling nextcloud rebooting and re-installing does not reset the options from the previous install it keeps the same account data, so without the dialog box these two bugs mean once you have installed nextcloud and setup the desktop client account it can never be changed, ever.

This sounds like #2966 due to something weird with your graphics driver.

Probably fixed in #4582 which was first released in v3.6.0.

A workaround also noted here, but #4582 probably makes it unnecessary: #2966 (comment)
