If you have access to your command line run e.g.:

Insert your config.php content here.
Make sure to remove all sensitive content such as passwords. (e.g. database password, passwordsalt, secret, smtp password, …)

There was no message about it but it seems the problem originated in a disk quota problem which prevented the upgrade from finishing properly. Resolving the inode problem and then following the manual upgrade process (unpacking from zip) etc solved the issue.
