These pages provide guidance for a developer wishing to set up the development environment to work on the NGDS CKAN extensions software that support the NGDS CKAN Node in a box package.
The National Geothermal Data System (NGDS) supports the storage and search of information resources relevant to the discovery, understanding, and utilization of geothermal energy. It is a network of data pro-viders supplying data and metadata, with an aggregating feature that provides a single entry point for searching resources available through the system. Nodes in this system focus on one of two roles:
- publishing: nodes that are primarily used by a data provider to create metadata, make files avaialble for network access, deploy NGDS services to provide data access, or make metadata available for har-vesting
- aggregating: nodes that are primarily used to collect metadata from NGDS publishing nodes (and possibly from other metadata sources) and provide search and data browsing services to help users find what they need, evaluate it, and get it for their application
This WIKI includes information related to development of CKAN extensions for the NGDS CKAN package. The objective is an installable CKAN instance that will include PostGIS and GeoServer to provide everything necessary to create metadata to register datasets with the NGDS, and to publish data that conforms to NGDS or USGIN information exchanges as OGC WMS and WFS services. The validation and publication of the depends on the connection to the USGIN information exchange registry.
