Introduction

QuickBites is a full-stack web application that enables users to browse through a variety of restaurants and dishes, place orders, and get food delivered to their doorstep efficiently. The application leverages the power of the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js) to ensure a seamless user experience and robust performance.

Installation

To get a local copy up and running, follow these simple steps:

Prerequisites

  • Node.js installed on your local machine.
  • MongoDB installed and running.

Setup

  1. Clone the repository:

    git clone https://github.com/yourusername/quickbites.git
    cd quickbites
  2. Install dependencies for both backend and frontend:

    cd backend
    npm install
    cd ../frontend
    npm install
  3. Set up environment variables: Create a .env file in the backend directory and add the following:

    MONGO_URI=your_mongo_db_uri
    JWT_SECRET=your_jwt_secret
    STRIPE_SECRET_KEY=your_stripe_secret_key
  4. Run the application: In the backend directory, start the server:

    npm start

    In the frontend directory, start the React app:

    npm start
  5. Open your browser and navigate to http://localhost:3000 to see the application running.

Usage

  • Sign up and create a user account.
  • Browse through restaurants and their menus.
  • Place an order by adding items to your cart and proceeding to checkout.
  • Track your order in real-time until it reaches your doorstep.
  • Manage your profile and view order history from the user dashboard.
  • Admin users can log in to the admin dashboard to manage restaurants, orders, and users.
