Lua Temperature Converter

Note: You don't have ask permission to start solving the issue or get assigned, since these issues are supposed to be always open for new contributors. Objective:

• Write a Lua script that converts temperatures between Fahrenheit and Celsius.

Description:

• Your task is to create a simple Lua program that can:
  • Prompt the user for the type of conversion they wish to make (Fahrenheit to Celsius or Celsius to Fahrenheit).
  • Ask the user to enter the temperature in the chosen format.
  • Compute and display the converted temperature.

Requirements:

• User Input:
  • Prompt the user with: "Choose type of conversion: (1) Fahrenheit to Celsius or (2) Celsius to Fahrenheit".
  • Based on user's choice, prompt for the temperature: "Enter temperature in [chosen format]: ".

Display Result:

• Display the converted temperature in the format: The temperature is [converted value] degrees [target format].

Error Handling:

• If a user provides non-numeric input, display an error message: "Invalid input. Please enter a numeric value."

Code Quality:

• Use meaningful variable names.
• Comment major code sections.

The temperature converter functions are already added to your project:

Start by opening the tasks/lua/easy directory from the root of the project.
Then open temperature_converter.lua file and start working on your solution!

To test the program, you can run lua tasks/lua/easy/temperature_converter.lua to see if it works as expected.
