I want to add other characteristics to the generic access service, and it doesn't make sense to have two identical services enumerated with different characteristic lists.

Can we get the option to turn this off (besides just deleting the code?)

This is done to make sure Linux and OS X behave the same. What characteristics are you adding?

@stevepacker's PR #79 has a solution for Linux, need to make sure OS X has the same behaviour before merging ...

In order to keep OS X and Linux functionality similar, this will not be implemented at this time.
