Are there any plans to upgrade to npm 5.8.0?

I use the nodejs version v9.10.0 on Linux Ubuntu Mate 17.10 x64 and still have npm v 5.6.0

You know you can install npm seperately

It seems like this has been answered and can be closed. Feel free to re-open (or leave a comment requesting that it be re-opened) if you disagree. I'm just tidying up and not acting on a super-strong opinion or anything like that.

Thank you very much.
I thought #19560 was about to add NPM v5.8.0 only to Node 8 LTS, while I'm using Node 9

Update available 5.5.1 → 5.8.0 │
Run npm i -g npm to update
