Android News+ Inoreader extension "ERROR_UNKNOWN: remote connection error" since April

I had News+ v2.0.2 + Inoreader extension working on two devices, for a while, then one evening neither worked anymore.

(To get everything all in one place:)

April 24, I sent the following report:

News+ stopped downloading feeds from Inoreader last night, same error on two devices:
unknown_error: remote connection error

I cleared cache, uninstalled the app and the extension, reinstalled, no change.

Next I will try the beta Inoreader extension.

But was unable to send a log file from the app, so I used Catlog and sent one.

April 27, Inoreader extension v1.0.2 came out and did not fix the problem. I sent another email saying the problem still exists and was asked for a log file. So the next day I replied with an attached a log I grabbed using Catlog:

I'm unable to you a log using the Feedback feature as well:
Tried emailing using Gmail -- I can see the .txt file attached, but upon send I get "Couldn't send attachment"
Tried saving to my Drive -- I can see my drive, select a folder, but upon save I get "Failed to schedule 1 file for upload"

I've also cleared cache, etc., uninstalled, reinstalled, deleted folders I could find relating to News+. Made sure I have the new one that uses the new API, no luck.

Let me know if you need anything else -- my tablet is basically useless without your app +Inoreader!"

May 5, I purchased the Premium upgrade to support dev, and sent another email:

Bought the Premium version today (on my old account -- they don't let you change it) to support dev, regardless that I don't need any of the Premium features and only use Inoreader.

Any luck with the Remote Connection Error I'm getting? Do you need to me to post the error details on Github or the Google Group? I'm more than willing to test .APKs if you need.

Speaking of, do you think an older version would still work? Maybe I'll try to find one.

Then later after some experimenting:

Verified that all combinations of News+ versions 1.1.5-2.0.2 or Inoreader Extension versions 1.0.1beta-1.0.2 exhibit the same "Remote Connection Error".

I wonder if the "Remote Connection Error" and "not being able to send a Log directly from the app" are related. Some sort of permission error maybe.

May 6 I upgraded one of my devices to Lollipop, got the same error, sent another email/log:

Upgraded my tablet to Android 5.1 -- same error, but I was able to save a log from News+.

Forgot to state: Google News works fine in News+, as do a couple other extensions I tried, which is why I think it's something on Inoreader's end that changed.

I was able to successfully send a Feedback email with attached Log.txt from the app on May 31:

Same issue here as well with a private tt-rss setup. I had to switch to a different app. I've emailed him logs several times but only heard back once several months ago. He said "I'll look into it" and that was that.

Are you using Cloudflare SSL by chance?

I'm using Cloudflare for a personal VPS webserver, but not for anything to do with Inoreader/News+.

As an experiment I created a new Inoreader account and added several of the "sample" collections from the welcome dialog -- the new account works in News+!

Now, to figure out the differences between the two accounts. I have a feeling I'm hitting some sort of Maximum -- either too many feeds total, or too many in a single folder. My Bandcamp folder is suspect since it has >2700 subs. :\

Deleted the Bandcamp section from my exported feed list and imported into the new account -- still works!

Imported the full .xml including the 2700+ subscription Bandcamp folder and it broke it.

Deleted the Bandcamp folder -- works again.

So, it's either a limit (feeds per folder or total feeds) or maybe one (or more) of the feeds in the Bandcamp folder are killing it.

Tried adding only a couple feeds to the Bandcamp folder and syncing to get it to show up in News+, setting it to not sync the Bandcamp folder in News+, then reimporting the full XML again -- still breaks it even though it's not supposed to sync the Bandcamp folder.

So I guess for now my workaround shall be to delete the Bandcamp feeds. Thanks for all the help.
