I would highly suggest using at least java 17, java 8 is no longer being actively maintained, and is only receiving security updates, you can also refer to this page for more info

Use official paper if you want to use 1.8 java / java 8

Or use the previous release which is a bit more updated than paper and its the last one that supports java 8
