Watch "events" in general (notifications)

If someone interacts with me somehow (likes, reposts, reply, etc), then I get a notification.

The question is, why limit this behavior to interactions that have to do with me directly?

I think it would be useful to have a feature where you can "watch" for events and then get notified when something new happens.

Some problems it solves:

• If there is an interesting discussion (or a funny one) between 2 people, I want to get notified when someone makes a new reply
• If I follow 200 people and most of them make posts frequently, it will be hard to find posts of a specific person I follow that only posts occasionally (like Jack Dorsey, I would like to get a notification whenever he makes a new post)

I've been thinking about this for a while, especially in the context of communities, which may be closed. That means that a notifier app would need to be able to sign events on your behalf to gain access to the community notes. This is all application-level though, I'm sure pokey or someone will eventually figure it out.
