Issues with CJK fonts

I had previously downloaded the CJK package from the main Google font page and used it with no problems. Recently, I tried going back there, and the fonts are listed separately under different names. When I tried use them in a PDF, I got error and nothing displayed. Details at google/fonts#7150

Today I found this site, and these packages seem to work. Do you know what the disconnect is between those and these?

Also, I found that the Variable OTC package didn't seem to have all weights. I ended up having to download the Super OTC
