Hi,
If I have a vendor FW that is responsible for packet retries, doesn't it hinder the whole metric mechanism?

As I understand, I need to indicate a packet failure/success for each packet for the metric to be calculated correctly.
Can I calculate the correct metric without indicating failure/success for each packet?

Yes, but then you probably need to come out with your own version of airtime link metric.
