It would be nice to have each "independent" fragment of XML I/O separated into functions and exposed so that other vocabularies can re-use the expressions. In particular, I would like to use the codec for root DocOckPaths.Identifier.signature in root's XML codec.

Using root DocOckPaths.Identifier.signature in root's XML codec is required for dsheets/codoc#54 and an XML codec for documentation comments is required for dsheets/codoc#53.
