opam.2.1.0~beta2 --version yields 2.1.0~beta3 #4408

I just noticed.

$ opam update && opam install opam-devel=2.1.0~beta2
$ cp /home/[user]/.opam/[switch]/lib/opam-devel/opam /tmp/opam
$ chmod +x /tmp/opam
$ /tmp/opam --version
2.1.0~beta3

Thanks for the report! Indeed, there is a mistaken tagging of the beta2. So next one will be beta4 to avoid confusion.
