MacPorts has an interesting feature called 'livecheck', which is a way to poll upstream for new package releases.

This isn't an immediate need for OPAM, but being able to mechanically check for upstream updates is yet another timesaver as the repository gets larger. One to put on the Platform 2.0 wishlist...

This definitely feels like it should be on the 2.0 roadmap (while we're adding fields, etc.)
