As of OpenFrameworks 0.8.0, ofxKinect has been integrated into the OF core. All future development of this addon will take place in the main OF Github repo so please log issues there.

This repo will be left for anyone supporting old (pre-0.8.0+) OF projects and will not be updated. The final master branch is compatible with OF 0.8.0.

hi

theo I read that in your coments that you cannot use openni does this also apply to the ofxNI2 addon that uses openni2 and a different libfreeect driver.

Please read the issue description which clearly states ofxKinect development does take place on this repo and issues should be logged to the main OF repo. Better yet, questions like this are better off on the OF Forum.

In answer to your question:

You can certainly use OpenNI but that's using a different addon. ofxKinect only uses the libfreenect driver and, on Windows, you need to uninstall the libfreenect drivers for OpenNI to work. Conversely, you need to uninstall the OpenNI drivers and install the libfreenect drivers in order for libfreenect (and ofxKinect) to work. Drivers aren't required on Mac OS X or Windows.
