Imagery: automated cropping distorts images

The website applies automated cropping to images for the homepage tiles without respecting the input side-ratio. Thus, rectangular images are distorted into square shapes. As long as this isn't solved, we have to make sure that all imagery adheres to the correct ratio before upload.

We did agree on many stuffs with COM FU a couple of months ago, however, they were so slow in implementing them (despite receiving a test page).
Will be in touch with them once more during the upcoming week in order to discuss both the aforementioned matter alongside the "dark/over-saturated" issues.

Also a quick question, what is the maximum slider image size (width like 900px or 1000px ) that we can allow to show in the slider?
is there something specific ?

Dear @GeorgeBatrouni, I do not have the specifications of the website. But it seems that there is no restriction on the width of the items in the carousel in the CSS.

Other images on the homepage, such as those in the news & publications section are cropped/distorted to square shapes
