Please see my fork, where I've abstracted out the project to work for any city, and also removed dependencies on Google Maps and Mapbox, preferring OpenStreetMap. I also Dockerized everything, so developing and deploying should be simpler.
Do you all have thoughts on whether it might be worth upstreaming this? I am a Denver resident, and Denver recently passed a recycling and composting ordinance. As a former Chi Hack Night attendee, I remembered this project and wanted to see how hard it would be to modernize and genericize your work.
I have yet to publicize the updated project. I'm considering hosting a Denver version if I can get some local support - unlike Chicago, Denver's ordinance is new and there is a task force setup to handle enforcement, so the app may not prove terribly useful. I've sort of started with the technology and have yet to connect locally to get thoughts :)

Hi Sam,
Thanks for your interest in and work on this project. I'm UX designer - not a developer - so I can't speak too much to the technical aspects of your proposal. Do you have your work on a staging site somewhere? Also, I'd like to chat with you more about this. Do you have time for a call in the next couple weeks?
Sorry for the slow reply, I guess I didn't get notified of your response.
I just deployed the denver branch to recycling.samacohen.com (after making the Docker image multi-plaform.... good test case haha). I'd be happy to chat. Can you please email me at samc twelve thirteen at google's email service .com? Can coordinate a call there.
