Can Codex CLI access internet and do web search?

At the bottom of the readme, there's a link to further documentation, follow it and read until the end, there's a command you should write on the config.toml of codex for the CLI to access the internet

add this to config.toml

web_search = true   # allow Codex to issue first-party web searches without prompting you

tools.web_search is deprecated. Use web_search_request instead. You can either enable it using the CLI with --enable web_search_request or through the config.toml file with [features].web_search_request

adding in ~/.codex/config.toml worked for me:

web_search_request = true
