Use Case

As an Admin, I need to configure and manage memory on our servers to utilize their capacities more efficiently.

  • Logical Memory Block Size: Enhance the managed system performance by   manually or automatically changing the logical-memory block size. The logical block size is the size of the blocks that the kernel uses to read or write files.
  • System Memory Page Setup: Improve the application’s performance by setting large virtual memory page sizes of 16GB each.
  • I/O adapter enlarged capacity: AllowsAllows users to set aside memory for better throughput/performance. This option controls the size of PCI memory space allocated to each PCI slot.

Design Review Workflow

  1. Each design iteration will have a comment section
  2. The section will include:
    • A title with the iteration number
    • Any description or specific feedback the designer is requesting
    • Screenshots of the workflow
  3. Based on community and user feedback, we create a comment for the new iteration and repeat these steps

Questions to the community:

  • Are any of these terminologies IBM specific?
  • Is this setting useful to you?

These do not seem to be common BIOS settings that I have seen before. Possibly IBM specific terminologies and capabilities? I also have not seen any corresponding settings in the Redfish modeling, including the Redfish BIOS Schema which is a set of name/value pairs of BIOS Attributes.
