When I try to create a hue new item, e.g. the color of a lamp, there are no channels I could attach the item to. Even the channels already bind to an existing item are not displayed.

If a new thing is added the channels are present. All the existing things where created bei the openHab UI not by any files.

The Hue Binding ist Version 3.1.0

This is apparently the same as #11000

With what OH version was created your original thing? Maybe something is wrong in this old thing? Maybe a MainUI issue?

If this is working when you create a new thing, that is essential and you found a workaround.

PS: with things declared in file, I never encounter that problem,

Yes, this seems to be the same as #11000 but this issue has a won't fix label. But this issue has to be fixed.

I'm not quite sure. It could have been 3.0. It definitly wasn't 3.1 but I've created all with the new UI.

If this is working when you create a new thing, that is essential and you found a workaround.

Yeah but it's not a good workaround to delete a working item to have link a new item to a channel

Do you still have your old thing?

Do you still have your old thing?

Yes, even the channels aren't shown anymore, they are still working. And all the things respectively the assigned items are to much involed in rules and groups so it would take some time to recreate and test everything

It may be a MainUI bug?
We will have to guide you how to extract these data from your DB so that someone can first reproduce your problem.
And you could even compare the old and the new thing in your DB.
The MainUI stuff is stored in a JSON file.

It is no MainUI bug. As @cweitkamp commented in #11000, Channels are not shown for older things, since channel types changed to system channels. So it is related to the binding.

Ok, explanation provided, this is due to a change in thing/channels definition.
Issue can be closed.

We all know that a general solution/improvement in the core framework has to be found for such a change. And an issue is already opened for that.
