Is there a way to direct brew update/upgrade only major versions of installed formaulae?

Description of issue

Whenever I do brew update/upgrade as my daily/weekly updates I can see bunch of installed formulaes updates quite frequently.
However I would like to update them only if there are major version upgrades. is there a parameter to do it ? If not then can it be added as a feature?

This is not supported and not likely to be in the future. The closest you can do is selectively brew upgrade those formulae listed in brew outdated, but note that this also upgrades dependency/dependent formulae (otherwise they may not be compatible).

If you really need to you can use brew pin, but you will most likely encounter issues if you do so.
