Sc prime cloud storage integration #796

750k as a price tag for this makes 0 sense, and there is not much (or any?) technical detail here at all on how this will be achieved. If this is desired, at-least give a technical outline on what you plan to do. I could, at minimum, guide on how this could be achieved with Sia, and ive already stated elsewhere that if the chain just supported s3 storage with providers somehow it could be an agnostic means for any storage net. Kudos. |

I agree with @pcfreak30 the 750K budget for this is simply too much IMO and there is no technical outline about how this can be achieved. Besides, S3 capabilities are already implemented via Akash SDLs, meaning it is already compatible with many external storage options. Just as an example in SIA you can find storage for around $1.34/TB/month, so about $804 per year for 50 TB of storage. A lot lower than your example of a "50 TB storage and compute workload costing $50,000/year on AWS could cost $7,500–$15,000/year with this integration." There are also many providers with tons of free storage on Akash right now, using persistent storage you can save a lot already. So not really sure why this integration is needed at all. |

hi @31trainman, thanks for writing this! i would recommend adding more information in the budget breakdown - what does the money pay for? roughly how many hours are needed and what are you charging per hour? why does not all line items have a budget attached to it? the $750k budget is really a lot especially for someone's first proposal and with there being no POC. how much would it cost if you didn't try to onboard 100k developers and just did the integration? |

Funding Proposal: Integrating the SCP (ScPrime) Cloud Storage Network with the Akash Cloud Computing Platform
Executive Summary
This proposal outlines the integration of the ScPrime decentralized cloud storage network with the Akash decentralized cloud computing platform. By combining ScPrime’s secure, cost-effective, and distributed storage network with Akash’s scalable and decentralized compute infrastructure, this partnership aims to deliver a robust, highly available, and cost-efficient cloud solution for developers, enterprises, and Web3 projects.
The integration will create a powerful ecosystem addressing key issues such as high cloud costs, reliance on centralized service providers, and limited interoperability among decentralized platforms. This proposal details the funding requirements, benefits, technical considerations, and projected outcomes of this initiative.
Funding Requirements
To achieve the integration, we request funding of $750,000. The breakdown is as follows:
• Development and Integration: $400,000
• APIs and SDKs for seamless communication
• ScPrime-Akash interoperability modules
• Testing and quality assurance
• Marketing and Outreach: $150,000
• Campaigns targeting developers and enterprises
• Educational resources, workshops, and hackathons
• Partnerships and Adoption: $100,000
• Incentives for early adopters
• Collaboration with decentralized app (dApp) developers
• Operational Costs: $100,000
• Project management, administrative costs, and ongoing support
Market Opportunity
The Current Cloud Computing Market:
• Estimated size in 2023: $550 billion
• Projected growth: 18% CAGR, reaching $1.2 trillion by 2030
Key Problems:
1. Centralization: 60% of the market is controlled by AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.
2. High Costs: Traditional cloud services are expensive for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and startups.
3. Data Sovereignty: Centralized providers expose businesses to compliance and security risks.
Why ScPrime + Akash?
ScPrime Highlights:
• Scalable Decentralized Storage: Thousands of nodes worldwide, ensuring redundancy and security.
• Cost Efficiency: Storage costs 80% lower than traditional providers.
• Average cost per TB/month: $3–$5 (vs. $23–$30 on AWS).
• Data Integrity: End-to-end encryption and redundancy mechanisms.
Akash Highlights:
• Decentralized Compute: Leveraging underutilized compute resources for lower costs.
• Scalability: Highly flexible compute infrastructure for varying workloads.
• Cost Savings: Prices up to 80% cheaper than centralized competitors.
Synergies:
• ScPrime provides a secure and cost-effective storage backend for Akash workloads, enabling cheaper, decentralized alternatives to AWS or Google Cloud.
• Combined, the two platforms can power Web3 applications, blockchain infrastructure, machine learning, and enterprise-level workloads at significantly reduced costs.
Projected Benefits
• Average cost reduction of 65–85% compared to traditional cloud services.
• Example: A 50 TB storage and compute workload costing $50,000/year on AWS could cost $7,500–$15,000/year with this integration.
• Fully decentralized infrastructure for both compute and storage, reducing reliance on centralized providers and single points of failure.
• Targeting 50,000 developers within the first 12 months through SDKs, APIs, and educational initiatives.
• Incentives for 10,000 dApps to onboard, leveraging the joint network.
• Akash reduces e-waste by utilizing underutilized compute resources.
• ScPrime nodes leverage existing infrastructure, lowering carbon footprints.
Milestones and Timelines
Phase 1: Development (0–6 Months)
• Build APIs and SDKs for integration.
• Conduct internal and external testing.
Phase 2: Launch and Outreach (6–12 Months)
• Launch integration with marketing campaigns.
• Host developer workshops and incentivize early adopters.
Phase 3: Adoption and Expansion (12–24 Months)
• Achieve $10 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR).
• Expand developer base to 100,000 users.
Metrics for Success
• Storage Utilization: 75% capacity utilization of ScPrime’s network within 18 months.
• Compute Utilization: 65% growth in Akash workloads within 12 months.
• Revenue: Achieve $10 million ARR by Year 2.
• Adoption: Onboard 10,000 dApps by the end of Year 1.
Conclusion
The integration of ScPrime’s storage network and Akash’s compute platform will redefine the cloud landscape by providing an affordable, decentralized, and scalable alternative to traditional providers. With measurable cost savings, enhanced security, and growing adoption, this partnership aligns with the future of decentralized infrastructure.
Funding this proposal will unlock significant value for both ecosystems, catalyzing growth and establishing a foundation for long-term success.
