Within the old Thebes, the harvest festival was celebrated with joy, worthy of the inhabitants of the small town. After months of hard work and abundant harvests, the Thebans rejoiced in their hard work. The celebration was filled with music, songs, dances, drinks, and sumptuous feasts prepared from the products of the earth. Children played with enthusiasm amid laughter while proud farmers displayed their exploits. The king looked down on the festivities from his ramparts to congratulate his subjects for their prosperity. The celebration was filled with gaiety and good cheer. However, a huge crash soon interrupted the euphoria, causing Thebans to look up to the sky, which suddenly tore apart. A rumble was heard, revealing huge black scales that seemed to devour the light, threatening and flaming eyes, sharp teeth ready to split the earth in two, and immense wings that lifted the air and shook the ground. The beast then unleashed a wave of destruction, setting fire to homes and crops, spreading panic and confusion among the inhabitants. After a few minutes, the guard, regaining their senses, prepared for the confrontation and cast a spear that pierced the dragon's wing, destabilizing it enough to crash to the ground. A flight of arrows flew toward the dragon and stuck in its scales, followed by a second and third volley that seemed to barely affect it but elicited a scream of rage. Amidst this noise, a powerful voice, inspiring strength and respect, rose among the guards, ordering a new attack. One of the spears that had previously wounded the dragon grazed its skin, igniting its anger. It then charged forward in pursuit of the person responsible for this act, the brave Noam. In haste, he quickly established a plan. His idea was simple, to trap the dragon in a place away from the inhabitants. He then started running after him shouting to lure him as far as possible. However, the dragon was much faster and, with a great flap of wings, took several meters ahead and turned around to face Noam. Having no other choice but to take refuge in the castle enclosure to escape the dragon's devastating flames, that had already consumed the door, Noam rushed inside shouting to the villagers to flee to save their lives while the beast rushed in after him, leaving a gaping hole in the door and destruction in its way. To mislead the creature and trap it, Noam took a series of small alleys. The dragon, having lost its trace, rose to altitude to have an overview of the castle, before spotting Noam near a cavity that served as a warehouse for provisions, and swoop down on him. However, the dragon had trapped itself inside these stone walls. Quickly, an army of men emerged from the castle courtyard to support Noam and deal with the creature. The dragon's movements caused a deafening noise, the fight lasted for long minutes, the beast struggled, spitting flames of unbearable heat, swinging its sharp claws in the direction of Thebean army men, shouting so loudly that the walls trembled. But not having room to spread its wings, the dragon remained unable to escape and take the advantage over Noam and his army. Thus, the men only had to parry its attacks while waiting patiently for the right moment to launch the decisive assault. When the right moment presented itself, the men rushed towards the evil creature. Screams, forging iron splinters and cries of agony were heard before the dragon died, under scorching lights of torches, swords and arrows. Noam, having delivered the fatal blow, proudly stood before the creature. When the Dragon took its last breath, the flames that inhabited it began to consume it from the inside until it was nothing more than a pile of ashes. A gentle breeze dispersed the ashes revealing a stone as dark as it was sparkling, of a deep and bewitching purple black. Noam was inexplicably drawn to this stone, as if he was destined for nothing else but to find it. Inexorably, he approached it, gradually, without leaving it for a single moment, then he placed his hand on it. That's when, under the bewildered and confused gaze of the soldiers, Noam disappeared, absorbed by the stone. The soldiers approached, frightened, the stone which had become as gray and rough as a vulgar pebble. In doubt and confusion, the men remained observing the stone for long minutes, in the hope that a miracle would happen, but nothing happened. The stone had nothing special anymore, nothing more than the other gravels around it and Noam had indeed disappeared, evaporated without a trace. |

Noam was a high-ranking member of the Theban guard. One day, during an expedition, met a pack of wild bears. Being an exceptional hunter himself, he decided to tame one of them to perfect his taming techniques. He decided to stay close to the bears to better understand how they function and how they live. 6 months later, Noam returned to town to tell the king about his findings. The king, surprised by this discovery, decided to take the group of bears and affiliate them with the royal guard's tamer group, thus offering a foolproof protection against the repeated assaults of the bandits #555. However, not all the bears were there, some had managed to flee. Some time later, a tremor was felt on the outskirts of Thebes.
The guards, panicked by the commotion, moved in the direction of the tremor. In the distance, one or two people were heard shouting, and then a great silence. The emergency bell rang and the people panicked. The doors were pounded and the defense was just waiting to be destroyed. With a crash the door fell and the appearance of a bear as big as a modest house surprised Noam. The bear began to rampage through the city destroying all traces of man, starting with the houses and their inhabitants.
The carnage was total. Noam in a burst of courage decided to try to tame the bear by facing it while trying to evacuate part of the population. The last survivors tell that after their escape, Noam disappeared. The legend will remember only one thing:
"Noam, The Legendary Tamer". The bear was renamed Yan and was used to tell stories that frightened the children of Thebes. It was only years later that the group in charge of rebuilding the new Thebes found Noam's remains but decided to keep the matter secret to honor the sacrifice of this hero. To honor Noam's sacrifice, every year people gather and recite the phrase "We are alive thanks to our Yan'ïk Noam".
Noam - Legendary hunter known for being able to summon a pack of a hundred wolves and even other forest animals. It is even said that he was able to tame the legendary bear.
