Adding this feature (automatically-generated 'checksum.txt' file) would be a great enhancement for developers and users alike. It would provide users with a means to verify that the release asset they downloaded is authentic and error-free. Moreover, if this feature were standard, developers could integrate a check into the installation process, and likely save time/effort in resolving many issues for many people.
