How do I create commits and pull requests for previous dates?

It's not recommended to trick with git commit history.

Creating Past Commits

1. Using the --date Flag:
   You can create a commit with a specified date in the past using:

   git commit --date="YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS" -m "Your commit message"

   Replace YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS with your desired date and time.

2. Using --amend:
   To change the date of the most recent commit, use:

   git commit --amend --date="YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS"

3. Setting Environment Variables:
   For greater control over both author and committer dates, set the environment variables:

   export GIT_COMMITTER_DATE="YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS"
   export GIT_AUTHOR_DATE="YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS"
   git commit -m "Your commit message"

Creating a Pull Request

After creating your past commits, push them to your remote repository:

git push origin branch-name

Then, create a pull request on GitHub:

1. Go to your repository on GitHub.
2. Click on the "Pull requests" tab.
3. Click "New pull request".
4. Select the base and compare branches.
5. Complete the pull request details and click "Create pull request".

• Visibility: Platforms like GitHub may display the commit date differently, often prioritizing the commit date over the author date.
