Could I roll back github organization and related code that I accidentally deleted?

Hello,

As I wrote in the title, a user belonging to the github organization accidentally deleted the organization, so the work history and source code were deleted. We're using the free version. Can we recover it by any chance?

Yes you can recover it. You can email support@github.com and they should be able to help you out. They might take a bit time to respond. You can also go to this url and select restore deleted data.😊

If an organization in GitHub was deleted, all repositories, wikis, issues, and pull requests associated with that organization are permanently removed. GitHub does not provide a native recovery option for deleted organizations, especially for free users.

However, here are a few things you can try:

Check Local Backups: If any members of the organization have local copies of the repositories on their machines, you can restore the code from there. This is the easiest way to recover the source code and work history.

Contact GitHub Support: Although recovery for deleted organizations is not officially supported for free-tier users, it’s still worth reaching out to GitHub Support to see if they can assist in some capacity, particularly if the deletion was recent.

Check for Any Clones: If any public repositories were forked or cloned by other users, you may be able to recover the code from those copies.
