PRs from external contributors fail with "The process '/usr/bin/git' failed with exit code 1"

I have notice on two different PRs now that GitHub Action fails with the message

The process '/usr/bin/git' failed with exit code 1

My own PRs seems to work. The two PRs that failed are both from external contributors.
